Rant hard. Don't make someone else unsafe.
RantOut is meant for honest expression and being heard.
You can be frustrated. You can disagree. You can have a terrible day. You cannot use that frustration as permission to harm someone else.
Talk about what happened — without doxxing people
Share your experience. Avoid exposing unnecessary identifying information such as:
- Full names and addresses.
- Private phone numbers and email addresses.
- ID documents and financial information.
- Other details that could put someone at risk.
Respect what someone is asking for
A rant may ask for understanding, room to vent or another perspective. Respect that context.
A reaction can mean I Relate, I Hear You or Been There. Do not treat a reaction as permission to pressure someone into a conversation.
Message requests are invitations
Acceptance is optional. You may send one introductory text; further chat messages are available after acceptance. If someone ignores or blocks you, leave it there.
Keep chat consensual
Do not:
- Harass, threaten or stalk.
- Repeatedly pressure someone.
- Demand personal contact information.
- Pressure someone to move off-platform.
- Send unwanted sexual material.
No hate or targeted abuse
Do not attack or dehumanize people based on protected characteristics. Do not use RantOut to organize or encourage targeted harassment.
No scams or impersonation
Do not:
- Pretend to be someone else.
- Solicit passwords or request payment credentials.
- Run scams or send malicious links or content.
- Manipulate members for money or private information.
Images need the same respect
An image being private to a chat does not make anything acceptable. Do not send:
- Unwanted explicit images.
- Private documents.
- Intimate content without consent.
- Material you do not have the right to share.
Don't evade safety tools
Do not bypass blocks, account restrictions, moderation actions or message-request limits.
Use reporting instead of retaliation
If something crosses the line: report it. If you do not want further interaction: block.
Do not escalate abuse because someone else started it. Learn how hiding, blocking and reporting differ.
What RantOut may do
Depending on the situation, RantOut may remove content from view, restrict, suspend or ban an account, and retain relevant evidence for moderation.
Reports are reviewed in context. A report does not guarantee a particular outcome or response time.
